Dubai continues to shine as a top global destination, welcoming 9.31 million international overnight visitors between January and June 2024. This impressive figure reflects a 9% growth compared to the 8.55 million tourists who visited during the same period in 2023, as reported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
After a record-breaking 2023, where Dubai hosted 17.15 million visitors, the city is once again on a path toward achieving new tourism milestones. The steady growth seen in the first six months of 2024 suggests the city is gearing up for another standout year.
This success can be attributed to the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, whose vision has positioned Dubai as a leading hub for both business and leisure. The Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to solidify the city’s status as a top global destination, is clearly reflected in the rising visitor numbers.
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, emphasized the city’s strategic growth, stating, “Guided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s strategic vision, Dubai’s tourism sector continues to demonstrate its robust growth potential and attractive proposition for global travelers.”
The city’s consistent tourism growth is a testament to its ability to foster strong public-private partnerships and build extensive global networks. Dubai’s appeal as a premier destination continues to rise, and the city is set on maintaining this upward trajectory. By enhancing its infrastructure and delivering world-class services, Dubai aims to set new benchmarks in 2024, further boosting the tourism sector’s contribution to the local economy.
Dubai kicked off 2024 with notable achievements, being named the world’s top destination for the third consecutive year in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards—an accolade no other city has managed to achieve. The city also secured the title of the Middle East’s leading destination at the World Travel Awards, while Dubai International Airport and Mina Rashid were recognized as the region’s leading airport and cruise port, respectively.
This remarkable start to 2024 highlights Dubai’s growing stature on the global stage and underscores the city’s commitment to redefining excellence in tourism. With half the year still ahead, the city’s tourism sector is on track to reach even greater heights.
